About

Surgical Expertise

As a fellowship-trained Canadian Rhinologist, Dr. Purcell provides specialized and comprehensive care for patients with sinonasal conditions in Eastern Ontario

Research Interests

Surgical and Patient-Reported Outcomes

The patient experience in sinonasal conditions is what drives treatment and our impression of the control patients have over their disease. Patients will be asked to complete surveys to share their perception of symptoms as they undergo assessment and treatment.

Medical Education

Dr. Purcell has interest in the education of undergraduate medical students. His research goals are to support medical education through understanding and assessing the needs of medical students, and developing methods of improving the surgical training of medical students.

i-Knife for Sinonasal Tumors and CSF detection

Queen's University is home to a field-leading research team focused on exploring the potential clinical value of mass spectrometry. Dr. Purcell has interest in using this technology for the diagnosis of sinonasal tumors or the detection of cerebrospinal fluid within the nasal cavity.
